Position title:
Liver Transplant Hepatology
Salary range:
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as
determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step.
The base pay range for this position is $85,000 - $400,000. Salary
is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if
the position includes membership in the Health Sciences

Position description
The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San
Diego (http://med.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence
and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is
currently recruiting outstanding faculty for with an interest in
academia in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology.
The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is ranked number 1
in research and teaching among global universities, and ranked
number 18 in clinical care by the US World News.
Faculty are encouraged to get involved in various sub-sections
within the division and engage in active learning and will be
provided and expected to participate in divisional and departmental
activities and demonstrate engagement.
Clinical and teaching responsibilities will include Hepatology,
Transplant Hepatology and Endoscopy
The successful candidates will interact with a wide range of
clinical, translational and/or basic science programs on liver
diseases and transplant hepatology. This may include quality
improvement projects, collaboration with funded investigators,
publication of clinical case reports or reviews, or development of
curricular or teaching materials.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate,
or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background
and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee
should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional
activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a
California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as
determined by the Medical Board of California and must be board
certified or eligible in Gastroenterology.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with clinical training including completion of an
accredited Hepatology fellowship with UNOS certification is
preferred.
Candidates with a research interest and expertise in the area of
clinical or laboratory based research in liver diseases is
preferred.
